Christmas Gift Guide: Something Different

by | Nov 9, 2020 | Christmas | 0 comments

This Christmas Guide is dedicated to the small businesses that offer something a little bit different. I have selected some of the best North East small businesses I can find. Of course, like my other gift guides this is not all of them but as mentioned before I only have so much “blog” time. There’s an absolutely gorgeous community of small businesses on Instagram and if I had a never ending pot of money, well I would happily support every one of them.

KPPapercuts

For your creative friend, family member or secret santa… you have to visit Keely’s online store, her paper cutting kits are the perfect gift for someone who likes to try out new art forms and keep their hands & mind busy with something creative.

Keely also designs & cuts bespoke baubles, and art prints which make the perfect gifts.

Her kits are great though, and include everything a beginner would need, including a blade handle and 5 blades – great value for money.

Joanne Rowland Workshops

Give the gift of art and creativity with one of Joanne Rowland’s Beginner’s Coloured Pencil Workshops.

Joanne Rowland is a very talented artist from the North East, specialising in pet portraits & wildlife art, her work is fabulous and she’s now offering workshops to teach her techniques. This would be the gift that keeps on giving, gifting to someone who can practise a new skill, learn and get creative in their free time.

Northumbrian Flowers

Sticking with the theme of getting creative with gifts for this one, but something maybe for before Christmas.

I feel like, with the multiple lockdowns this year, a lot of people turned for a creative release, something to keep mind and body busy that meant they didn’t fall into a Netflix hole.

This latest lockdown is feeling super festive and it’s about now we would all be flocking to workshops to create a wreath with someone close to us.

That’s obviously going to be a little difficult this year, but Northumbrian Flowers have created the perfect alternative – a Wreath Workshop in Box. The workshop includes either a video tutorial if you want to create this with a wine, at your leisure with your bubble, or you can book onto a live virtual workshop via zoom where a group will be online to have a natter over some festive nibbles.

R & R Therapy

Give the gift of wellness, with Rachel’s new Essential Oil gift sets. There are a few options to choose from including Sleep, Relaxation, Elevate, & there is also one for Menopause.

With 2020 drawing to an end, in what has been nothing short of challenging, what better treat than a wellness box to really treat someone you love.

These products are coming soon to the R&R website, but at the moment you can purchase through her facebook page (linked through the photographs below).

Lolla Mac Workshops

Something for 2021… again sticking with a creative theme and something to do next year with someone special.

Lolla Mac has the most gorgeous range of jewellery and she offers workshops to create stacking rings or bangles.

It’s not something we’ve been able to do much of this year, but I would love to do a workshop like this with my Mam & Sister, the perfect day out if you add in a lovely lunch or afternoon tea and of course a bottle of fizz. And a bonus to all that, you get to finish the day with some beautiful new jewellery you’ve made together.

Buy someone you love a gift voucher for some a workshop or some jewellery!
